explore liturgical praying
The new regimens for dealing with COVID-19 have driven us away from whichever form of liturgy we previously participated in. Whether from the state, diocesan, or parish level, social distancing and mask-wearing are the new realities. Concerns for safety from infections has subverted Eucharistic praying so many ways. You yourselves can recite a litany of the changes in ‘the work of the people’.
I would like to reflect with you about where we were with liturgical praying, where we are with it, and where liturgical praying might go. Here is an overview of webinars I will offer.
webinar topics
1. where have we come from?
A Catholic Baby Boomer looks at the church’s liturgical life since Vatican II. I propose for your consideration and discussion, three seismic events since 1965 that shaped the way we pray. Four, actually.
3. what has changed with COVID? as worshiper or minister?
I believe we’d all agree on what changed, like streamed Masses, no singing, social distancing, masks. Not the same. Yet… what did COVID take away? How does it affect you? What, besides return to normal, do you hope for should normalcy elude us for a good time? What would you hope for when liturgical praying now?
2. where were we pre-COVID-19?
Recall your experience of liturgical praying before Coronavirus wreaked havoc on the world. What was good? What worked? What was lacking in your experience? What did you hope for?
4. what is liturgical praying, then?
I propose an exploration of conscious liturgical praying – individuals enter onto the field of encounter with God, self, and others as the divisive persons we are. We members of the Body of Christ are immersed in the Trinity as we are. That is, as divided and divisive human beings.

5. what is the paschal mystery? who is the paschal mystery?
