reflections on All Shall Be Well collection & other songs

I have had many musical ideas. Some ripened and matured. Others did not. I’ve been privileged to have recorded and published some of those with the St. Louis Jesuits since 1975. OCP accepted eight songs for All Shall Be Well, which they published in summer 2020.

In lieu of that, I wish to reflect on my process of composing songs for use in liturgy. To talk about my musical influences. And to share how my understanding of music-in-service of liturgical praying has changed and shifted over the years. Notably with All Shall Be Well.
